pom塑胶原料助力汽车轻量化
塑料分为许多种，聚酰胺(尼龙，PA)、聚碳酸酯(PC)、聚甲醛(POM)、聚苯醚(PPO)等。其中，pom塑胶原料是一种性能优良的工程塑料，在国外有“赛钢”、“夺钢”、“超钢”之称。自问世以来，POM已经广泛应用于电子电气、机械、仪表、日用轻工、汽车、建材、农业等领域。
POM具有类似金属的硬度、强度和钢性，在很宽的温度和湿度范围内都具有很好的自润滑性、良好的耐疲劳性，并富于弹性，此外它还有较好的耐化学品性。POM以低于其他许多工程塑料的成本，正在替代一些传统上被金属所占领的市场，如替代锌、黄铜、铝和钢制作许多部件。
汽车工业发展至今已有100多年历史，随着汽车保有量的增加，人们逐渐意识到了汽车对环境带来的负面影响，这些影响包括对能源的消耗、对大气的污染等等。除了汽车产品本身的使用成本(包括能源消耗和金钱消耗)之外，汽车在制造的过程中会也会消耗大量能源和材料。为了解决这一问题，车企纷纷从制造工艺、材料等方面着手，以此来降低汽车生产成本、使用成本以及减少对环境的污染。
面对不同层面、不同需求的消费者，车企会推出相应的车型。车企之间互相竞争的同时必定会面临成本的问题，POM材料的低成本特性恰好能够满足车企的降本需求。来自美国的塞拉尼斯公司在POM材料方面有其独到的经验与技术。塞拉尼斯MetaLX系列金属光泽POM材料的特点在于直接注塑成型后就具有特种金属光泽的效果而不需要喷漆或电镀等后处理，与传统喷涂产品相比，MetaLX系列POM更耐刮擦，对油脂、溶剂具有良好的抗腐蚀性，在零下40℃到100℃ 的温度范围内保持良好的机械性能。
此外，其最重要的一点是能够为客户节约生产时间，免去喷涂的繁复生产过程和物流过程。据塞拉尼斯工程师描述，一般来说，汽车的塑料件通过喷漆或者电镀可以具有金属外观，而塞拉尼斯在MetaLX POM的配方上进行优化后，直接注塑就可以达到相应的金属光泽，无需再进行喷漆或电镀环节。这无疑实现了降本，同时又减少了对环境的影响。
